If you own an Android-based smartphone made by LG and have been wondering if your phone will get the Android 4.0 (or Ice Cream Sandwich if you prefer) upgrade, wonder no longer. LG's official Facebook page has posted up a list of which phones will get the upgrade to the newest version of the mobile operating system from Google.
The phones themselves will get the Android 4.0 upgrade sometime in the second or third quarter of 2012, depending on the smartphone model. In the second quarter (April-June) LG says the Android 4.0 upgrade will be applied to "... the LG Optimus LTE, Prada phone by LG 3.0, the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus Sol, the LG my Touch Q and the LG Eclipse."
The third quarter (July-September) is scheduled to bring the Android 4.0 update to these LG phones: " ... the LG Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus Black, the LG Optimus Big, the LG Optimus Q2 and the LG Optimus EX."
You can expect to see more announcements of this type to be made by other Android-based smartphone makers in the weeks ahead. As we reported a few days ago, Samsung has already admitted the Android 4.0 update won't be applied to the original Galaxy S smartphone or the first version of the Galaxy Tab tablet.
